about us

Manikanta and his friends started the Smile Foundation on April 10th, 2018. Initially contributed funds to orphanages. A few months into supporting orphanages, I formulated a plan to create a group to collect funds, visit orphanages, and understand the specific needs of the resident children. Upon discussing the plan with friends, agreed and started contributing monthly amounts. In 2018, we officially formed a team with an initial membership of 10 individuals, each contributing Rs. 100. In the first month (April), we successfully collected a total of Rs. 1000. We researched minimal-funding orphanages in Warangal and identified Loui's Adarsha Blind School.
Impressed by Kumar sir's dedication to visually impaired students, we visited the school on the 10th of April. During this visit, we identified the children's needs, which included daily essentials and braille charts. Subsequently, we purchased and donated these items, bringing joy to the children's faces. This charitable effort continued in May and June, but we soon realized that our modest funds were insufficient to meet the ongoing needs of the children.
In July 2018, the 10-member team addressed this concern by deciding to expand our efforts. I proposed adding new members and providing more comprehensive services to the children. With the agreement of my friends, we expanded our team and established the Smile Foundation. Our initiative at Loui's Adarsha Blind School persisted monthly, and after four months, we decided to extend our work to other minimal-funding orphanages in Warangal. Discussing this with Kumar sir, we received his support and encouragement, motivating us to broaden our services. In September 2018, we identified New Life Society, another minimal-funding orphanage in Warangal. We consistently added new members to our foundation and expanded our services to Samruddhi Children's Home in Hyderabad.
The foundation has successfully operated for two years, and we continue to celebrate our anniversary on April 10th. Following the inclusion of Samruddhi Children's Home, we decided to adopt a child for educational purposes, specifically from the same orphanage in Hyderabad. The Smile Foundation operated successfully for 2 years, experiencing growth each month. However, the sudden onset of the COVID-19 pandemic brought significant changes. Monthly events at orphanages were prohibited, leading our team to conduct regular calls, provide virus precautions, and offer moral support. During the first wave of the lockdown, our team visited orphanages, delivering essential items outside the gates. During this lockdown, we provided fruits, water bottles, and essentials to recognize the hero's of our society (3rd warriors).
At the beginning of 2020, a forwarded message on social networks highlighted Vardhana Ashram in Jangaon, struggling with minimal needs for the children. Anticipating a lack of funds, our team collected some amount and transferred the required funds to the Jangaon Smile member's account. Two days later, we took a risk, purchased the necessary items for Vardhana Ashramam, and delivered them outside the orphanage As the pandemic situation improved, we resumed monthly events at all orphanage homes. We continued transferring a cumulative amount monthly to the Sonu Sood Foundation. Despite various struggles over the 2.5 years since the foundation's inception, we took risks and stood strong with the support of friends.
Unexpectedly, during the second wave of the lockdown, Loui's Adarsha Blind School founder Kumar Sir passed away. His demise was a shock, as he had been a moral support to our foundation.
After COVID, the foundation gradually resumed its activities, initiating monthly events at three needy orphanages and facilitating online transfers to distant locations. It also began sponsoring talented students, the foundation recently provided financial support to a deserving tribal area girl student to pursue studies at the prestigious "Indian Institute of Technology Patna." and students undergoing SI training from farming backgrounds. During emergencies, the foundation extended assistance to people in various places upon request. The foundation has successfully celebrated its 3rd, 4th, and 5th anniversaries.
Over the past 5 years, the foundation has achieved significant milestones in terms of donations. It has played a remarkable role in supporting orphanages, blind schools, and old-age homes, aiding students in their education, adopting students and taking responsibility for their education, and funding various orphanages in different regions.
In a short span, the foundation has brought smiles to many faces. To experience the satisfaction of giving, the foundation has faced numerous challenges and hurdles over the past 5 years. After five years, we decided to register the foundation, The registration process was completed in May 2023, and all operations of the foundation are conducted under the name of "Vision Smile Foundation." The foundation started with a 10-member team and has since grown to over 70-member team, with new members being added every month.
